No Artistic Skills Needed: Make Beliefs Comix
January 8, 2008I’m a comic buff, but I can’t draw to save my life. Thus, I will never join the ranks of Jack Kirby or Chris Ware. While I continue to practice with stick figures, I’ll hone my skills in the rest of comic creation with this handy site, MakeBeliefsComix.com. The site is designed for children of all ages, and the incredibly easy-to-use interface will have your students producing comics in no time. Everything is very intuitive, and the controls are about as point-and-place as you can get. Use dialog and thought bubbles, panel prompts, and choose from a dozen characters to star in your strip.
This is a great opportunity for students to create illustrated versions of assignments, or for aspiring comic writers to hone their skills. You can print or email your creations, so you can adorn your worksheets with your own clever cartoons. For inspiration, check out my masterpiece inset below.
