  • How to cope when your school blocks YouTube

    January 7, 2009

It’s a familiar story — teacher needs educational video, teacher can’t get past school firewall, students miss great educational opportunity. We’ve posted a few ideas on how to work around filters and firewalls that block YouTube, such as KickYouTube and KeepVid. The School Library Journal has put together a big list of several such tools in their post, When YouTube is blocked (eight ways around). The author mentions a few resources we’ve touched on, as well as new-to-us tools like Voobys and Miro. She also links to instructions on how to download YouTube videos as MP4 files or load them into PowerPoint presentations. With this many options, you’ll never have to worry about not being able to use YouTube videos in class again. -BILL FERRIS
